El Encanto
The Challenge

El Encanto came to us frustrated with how the property was showing up in the world. The team felt their imagery blended in with every other luxury property in California, the same coastal light, the same poolside angles, the same polished sameness that makes high-end hotels in the region hard to tell apart. For a property with genuine distinction, looking like the competition was the problem. The brand was strong in person and generic on screen, and that gap was costing them the chance to stand out in one of the most crowded luxury markets in the country.

What We Did

We started with the guest. We dug into who actually stays at El Encanto, what they expect from a property at this level, and where the market was falling short of delivering it. That research sharpened into a clear strategy.

From there we ran a brand audit to surface what genuinely set the property apart, and the answer turned out to be its history as a source of creative inspiration for celebrities and artists over the years. That became the foundation for a new photography and visual direction built to challenge the typical California luxury tropes rather than repeat them. We shot the rooms differently, surfaced elements of the property most guests had never seen, and reframed the visual story around what makes El Encanto singular.

We then showed the client exactly how that direction carried across every touchpoint, from social and the website to brand partnerships, and codified the whole approach into a photography style guide so future photographers, videographers, and content creators would all build to the same standard.

The Results

The engagement gave El Encanto a visual identity that finally matches the property's stature and stands apart from its competitive set.

  • A distinct photography and visual style guide that every future content creator, videographer, and photographer can follow, keeping the brand cohesive no matter who is behind the camera
  • A clear creative point of view that separates El Encanto from the interchangeable look of California luxury
  • A library of imagery surfacing parts of the property guests had never seen, expanding the story the brand can tell
  • A repeatable system that protects visual consistency across social, website, and partnerships as content needs scale
  • Reduced ambiguity for future creative hires, since the direction is documented rather than re-litigated on every shoot
